Viv & Jill cruised the Rhone & Saone Rivers aboard Uniworld’s luxury river cruise ship, River Royale, during a 2009 visit to France.

Day 1 – Uniworld’s website shows this as a travel day from your home gateway city to France.
Day 2 – Arrive in France and transfer to the River Royale in Arles.
Note: Transfers are available through Uniworld – contact them for details.
Day 3 – Arles walking tour in the morning. Return to ship for lunch. Afternoon Optional Tour: Olive Farm and Les Baux. Captain’s Welcome Dinner aboard as the River Royale sails towards Avignon.
Day 4 – Avignon walking tour in the morning, including Palace of the Popes. Return to ship for lunch. Afternoon Optional Tour: Pont du Gard Aqueduct and Chateauneuf du Pape wine tasting. Dinner aboard as River Royale sails towards Vivier.
Day 5 – Vivier walking tour in the morning. Return to River Royale for lunch. Afternoon of sailing the Rhone towards Tournon and Tain l’Hermitage.
Day 6 – Morning walking tour of Tournon and wine tasting at a private wine cellar in Tain l’Hermitage. The afternoon is spent sailing towards Lyon. Passengers were treated to an Epicurian Dinner. After dinner there was time to explore Lyon by ourselves.
Day 7 – Guided bus and walking tour of Lyon. Lunch was available aboard River Royale, or could be enjoyed in the city – with restaurant suggestions from guides. Captain’s Farewell Dinner as River Royale sailed towards Chalon-sur-Saone in Burgundy.
Day 8 – Guided bus and walking tour of Beaune, including Hospices de Beaune and a visit to the open-air food market in the town square. Return to River Royale for lunch. Afternoon Optional Tour: Southern Burgundy vineyards – Rully and Chamirev.
Day 9 – Passengers disembarked River Royale. Some passengers transferred to Paris for a city stay under the guidance of Uniworld, others continued on to other European destinations and those that were ending their vacation transferred to airports for the flight home.
