Viv & Jill cruised the Rhone & Saone Rivers aboard Uniworld’s luxury river cruise ship, River Royale, during a 2009 visit to France.

Uniworld River Royale Visits Viviers in France
Daily Itinerary ~ Day 5 – Viviers
For early risers coffee and pastries were available in the Patio lounge between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
An extensive hot-and-cold buffet breakfast was available in the Cezanne restaurant between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
Gymnastics session in the Renoir lounge with Madeleine at 8:00 a.m.
At 10:00 a.m. all passengers that were joining the guided walking tour of Viviers were with their guides and starting off on the 10-minute walk to the center of the old city. We were treated to a private organ concert in the 12th century Romanesque St. Vincent Cathedral.
Anyone wishing to stay behind on the ship could enjoy an extended continental breakfast in the Renoir lounge between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
By 12:15 p.m. the tour was over and we were back onboard and enjoying the lunch buffet in the Cezanne restaurant. Passengers that wanted to wander through Viviers had more time to do so as we didn’t sail until 1:30 p.m. – at which time we were underway in the direction of Tournon and Tain l’Hermitage.

The afternoon was spent enjoying the cruising – it was pleasant outside and we were able to see some of the massive locks along the Rhone. The remainder of the day was filled with reading and playing board games with fellow passengers in the lounge.
Tony gave an afternoon lecture about France for about 30 minutes in the late afternoon and then met back up with passengers at 6:30 p.m. for a port talk and briefing of what to expect in Tournon and Tain l’Hermitage the next morning. This was followed by an introduction to, and explanation of, the Epicurean Dinner that would be served this evening.
From 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. passengers enjoyed the wonderful meal that had been prepared for the Epicurean Dinner and the accompanying wines that had been specifically chosen to complement each course.
By the time dinner had ended, River Royale had docked in Tain l’Hermitage and those passengers that were wanting to stretch their legs or explore the town at night disembarked and went in search of a local cafe.
The onboard musician, Bill, played music to entertain the remaining passengers.
