Celebrity Summit Qsine Specialty Dining Restaurant
Celebrity Summit Qsine Specialty Dining Restaurant
Cruising the Southern Caribbean on Celebrity Summit
By Jeannette and Dan Dudek
The promotional material for this restaurant states “Qsine® offers a culinary journey that delivers elements of surprise and delight”. Celebrity’s V.P. of Operations, Jacques Van Staden states that “Qsine is a blend of all kinds of cuisines”. You have to experience this unique approach indulging in a number of exquisite food samples from around the world to completely understand the approach and to agree with the promotional statement.
The fun and excitement start when you are presented with an iPad rather than a printed menu. Your waiter discusses with you your food preferences, and then depending on how many in your party, he/she will suggest the number of selections you should make. You simply touch the category, e.g. seafood (represented by a lobster symbol on the iPad) and the food items in that category are described.
All of the menu selections are meant for sharing and all are purposely small in size to allow sampling a number of items. When the “captain” of the table completes the selection process, your waiter will review it and may possibly suggest a change to ensure your complete satisfaction.

One especially pleasing dish was the Painter’s Mignon served with “palatable pleasers”, such as red wine sauce, truffle mashed potatoes, mushrooms and spinach. The tender meat, cooked to perfection, melted in your mouth.
A couple sitting at the table next to us enjoyed the eye-pleasing presentation of Crunchy Munchies, i.e. Gaufrettes, French Fries – Sweet Potato Strings Vegetable Chips, Potato Croquettes, and Spicy Parsnip Crisps. They also selected M’s Favorites, a vertical display of several Mediterranian dishes that could include: Patlican Salata; Mixed Olives; Tzatziki; Eggplant Im am Biyaldi; Tabbouleh; Hummus; Chicken Kafta; Zathaar Lamb Chops; Kibbeh; Mediterranean Chile; Falfel; and Goat Cheese Cigars!
Qsine provided one of the most unique and fun dining experiences we have ever had! By presenting the foods in such clever vignettes and interpretations, the meal became a dining adventure. The atmosphere created just from the arrival to the table of the food brings smiles and wows, and you inevitably start conversing with patrons sitting all around with the phrase “What is that you ordered?”
With such a variety of choices on the menu there is something for everyone. The elegant sauces, the superb preparation and variety of the foods, the freshness of the seafood, and the attention to detail make this gourmet dining event fun and memorable.
Note: Sometimes a ship will offer a discount if you book a Specialty Restaurant on your initial departure day. Just be aware of the time of the Mandatory Life Boat Drill. This drill takes about ½ an hour and could interfere with your dining experience. A dinner in a Specialty Restaurant takes about 2 ½ hours and you do not want to be rushed or interrupted.
Suggestion: Usually the most desirable dinner entrees at the Cosmopolitan Restaurant (main restaurant) are provided during Formal Night. Thus we suggest you make your specialty restaurant reservation for a non-formal night, and do so as early in your cruise as possible as reservations for these nights are booked quickly.
Note: Celebrity Cruises hosted Jeannette & Dan to a dinner at Normandie and Qsine, Celebrity Summit’s specialty restaurants.
