When the opportunity to experience a cooking class at Ginger’s Kitchenware with Chef Judy Witts-Francini presented itself, there was no way I could pass it up. As Ginger’s is centrally located close to WAVEJourney’s head office in Bend’s Old Mill District and due to the fact I’ve been drooling over guest chef Judy’s blog for a number of years (check out her mouth-watering food photos on Facebook to see what I mean) this was an event I was not going to miss.

Judy Witts-Francini is an American that has been living, working and teaching cooking in Italy for over 30 years. Judy teaches cooking classes and takes guests on tours in Italy between April and November and in the off season (December to March) she travels and teaches in other places. Living in the Tuscan countryside near Florence and being married to an Italian (who refused to eat the first meal she ever made him because it wasn’t how mama made it), Judy has a wealth of culinary skills and information and is able to share them in an interesting and fun manner.

Spending an evening at Ginger’s with a renowned chef such as Judy, was a tremendous amount of fun that also provided a unique learning opportunity, especially with all the useful cooking tips. What an incredible way to learn some of the slow food tips that Italy is famous for!

Here are the recipes that Judy shared with the group (just like mama makes in Tuscany):
