Cons:
- Spinner wheels get in the way in the trunk of a car
- Spinner wheels get “stuck”, don’t “glide”, and made the bag difficult to maneuver
- TSA lock is difficult to use – zipper pulls need to be criss-crossed and take a lot of manipulation to fit
- TSA won’t know how to re-lock the zipper if they inspect the bag, so are likely to leave it unlocked and unsecure
Bottom Line:
Jill used the eBags EXO 2.0 Hardside 24″ Spinner luggage (in purple) on an extended trip (109 days) to Europe and South Africa. During this time the bag was checked-in for 12 flights with various airlines, stuffed in the trunk of numerous rental cars/taxis, hauled on and off buses and trains, and was wheeled along a variety of surfaces over probably 6 miles/9 km. The bag itself held up very well and came back looking good as new. The wheels weren’t that easy to push on uneven or carpeted surfaces, so it doesn’t really suit our travel style – we like to take public transport as often as we can. When the bag was filled to capacity (around the 23 kg/51 pound limit for most European and International flights), it was difficult to maneuver on the spinners and easier to pull on just 2 wheels. Turns out we’re not big fans of spinner wheels – they just get in the way when trying to stow the bag in the trunk of a car – but many people are, so this piece of luggage has a lot of positives going for it. The contents of the bag did remain dry during a huge downpour – we couldn’t say the same for other luggage we were using.
