WJ Tested: Uniworld Eastern Europe Explorer – Bucharest Day 1
Hello Bucharest! This was the first time either of us had travelled to Romania or other parts of Eastern Europe, and we were thrilled to be exploring it with Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection.
During our first day in the city we were free to enjoy the day at leisure, and as we wanted to be relaxed and refreshed for the adventure that awaited us we spent most of our time either at the pool or exploring the facilities at the 5-star Radisson Blu Bucharest hotel.
This modern, deluxe hotel would be our home-away-from home for 2 nights before joining the 12-night river cruise portion of Uniworld’s Eastern Europe Explorer trip.
Uniworld’s local host for our group in Bucharest, Tudor Ionescu, was easy to find as he spent his day stationed at the Uniworld Hospitality Desk in the hotel lobby. We dropped by to meet Tudor and asked his recommendations for things to do and see in the city, which he happily provided us with.
Our first meeting with fellow cruise passengers was over a welcome drink and briefing the same evening from 7:15 pm to 8 pm. Tudor outlined what we could expect to cover during the next couple of days, and thoroughly explained the optional excursions that were available for the following day – Bran Castle or Peles Castle.
Following the welcome briefing the remainder of the evening was ours to spend as we wished. Many of our fellow passengers opted to explore the city, while we chose to meet friends for a drink at the Business Class Lounge (available to guests booked into a Business Class guestroom) on the top floor of the Radisson Blu Bucharest hotel.
