WJ Tested: Uniworld Eastern Europe Explorer – River Princess
One of the things we love most about river cruises, besides that the atmosphere is so much more intimate than ocean cruises, is that within a few days most of the passengers (98 on our cruise) and crew (37 including the Captain and officers) know each other. And with only 3 decks it didn’t take long to feel at home and know our way around.

Uniworld River Princess Suite 412
WJ occupied suite 412 on the Rhine Deck while aboard Uniworld’s River Princess cruise ship between Giurgiu, Romania and Vienna, Austria.
River Princess – Ship Features and Amenities
This is our second Uniworld river cruise (the first was in France on River Royale) so we expected the ship to be stylishly appointed… and, we were not disappointed. River Princess is unlike any other river cruise ship we have seen – more along the lines of Coco Chanel meets high-end boutique hotel.

River Princess Staterooms
Uniworld’s River Princess features 62 staterooms that convert to either one double or two twin beds in a space of approximately 151 sq. ft. There are 4 suite with an approximate size of 214 sq. ft. All staterooms are outside cabins and located on all three levels of the ship. Suite 409 has a fixed queen-size bed – the bed cannot be separated into twins.
Deck 3 – French balconies are found on all suites and category 1 cabins on the Rhine Deck. While the French balconies allow passengers to open the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door in their cabin, there isn’t an actual balcony that allows guests a place to sit – it is standing room only.
Deck 2 – The Danube Deck offers passengers picture windows that do not open.
Deck 1 – The Moselle Deck offers a total of 10 cabins with porthole windows that do not open – they are at water level.
Regardless of which deck and category, all cabins boast the same quality of furnishings and fittings, are lavishly appointed for comfort, relaxation and tranquility.
