WJ Travel Tip: FlixBus Review – Cheap Bus Travel in Europe

by WAVEJourney

During our time in Europe we took three long-distance bus/coach journeys with a company called FlixBus, which is based in Germany. We were impressed by the service, cleanliness, friendly driver, and price of bus tickets with this company, and will definitely use them again.

Launched in 2013, FlixBus operates to about 1200 destinations in 26 European countries. Some of the buses they use are their own, while others are partnered with local operators (the FlixBus is green and orange with their logo big and bold, while other operators they have running routes only have a FlixBus sign visible).

Our first experience with FlixBus was when they safely and comfortably transferred us from Budapest, Hungary to Zagreb, Croatia on a 5-hour journey for only 17 euro each.

We had considered taking the train between these two cities, but the train schedule was much longer and at inconvenient times. Plus, the price was almost triple the bus ticket.

Another 6-hour FlixBus journey was from Zagreb to Split in Croatia for only 16 euro each. Once again, the trip was on time and a much better alternative to the train.

Lastly we enjoyed a 5.5-hour FlixBus ride from Barcelona, Spain to Toulouse, France for only 22 euro each. This was on time, a comfortable and clean coach, and a friendly professional driver.

Some of the coaches we were on also had free WiFi service which was a nice bonus. So, if you’re looking for a long-distance bus ride between cities in Europe, take a look at options with FlixBus. It’s quick and easy to book on both their website or through their app.

Tip: Sign up for FlixBus emails on deals – frequent 5 euro fares are available between various cities in Europe.
