Description: Travel through the Languedoc vineyards to reach the Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. The tri-leveled bridge stands proudly over the Gardon Valley as it did during the Roman era. The guide will tell you the secrets of this master piece of roman engineering built without the use of mortar.

Then drive to world famous Chateauneuf du Pape to visit the wine cellar where the master will explain the art of blending the grapes. You’ll sample various vintages and learn how to smell and taste the fragrances drawn from this rocky terrain.
WJ’s notes:
We enjoyed the 45-minute drive from Avignon to Pont du Gard, relaxing as we were transported through the scenic landscape of this region of France. We did have some free time at the bridge to explore and take photos, but it felt slightly rushed in hustling off to get to Chateauneuf for the wine tasting. The wine tasting was well done and there was an opportunity for passengers to purchase bottles of wine, but unfortunately there wasn’t sufficient time to be able to stop in the town of Chateauneuf for a visit. The price of this tour was reasonable for what was included. Remember to tip the driver and tour guide.
Wine Tasting at Chateau Neuf du Pape
If passengers wish to just see the Pont du Gard and forego Chateauneuf, it is possible to have the Cruise Director arrange a taxi to go directly to the bridge and return for a fee that is quite reasonable if shared among 4 people. A visit to Pont du Gard is definitely something not to miss on this trip.
