Daily city tours and shore excursions are included in Uniworld’s cruise fare during the Rhone River itinerary between Arles and Chalon-sur-Saone, but for an extra fee there are also three opportunities to participate in optional excursions. Each of these excursions included a coach ride out into the French countryside, English-speaking tour guides, with visits to historic sites and villages as well as cultural experiences. For passengers that had not previously visited this area of France, these excursions delved deeper into the region and provided an encounter that would not otherwise have occurred.
For passengers not wishing to participate in the optional excursions, they had the afternoon free to explore the city we were docked at, or just spend the time relaxing onboard the ship. If you participate in all three optional excursions, be prepared to spend an additional €153 per person, plus gratuities for the driver and tour guide.
