Uniworld River Royale Visits Beaune in Burgundy, France
Daily Itinerary ~ Day 8 – Beaune
For early risers coffee and pastries were available in the Patio lounge between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
An extensive hot-and-cold buffet breakfast was available in the Cezanne restaurant between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to forego the morning excursion could remain on the ship and enjoy an extended continental breakfast in the Renoir lounge between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
At 9:30 a.m. all passengers joining the guided tour of Beaune had picked-up their Vox system and were boarding their coach for the 30-minute drive out into the countryside of Burgundy.
During this three-hour tour we were guided around the Hotel-Dieu also known as Hospices de Beaune and then had free time to explore the outdoor market and main shopping area.

By 12:30 p.m. we were back onboard River Royale and enjoying the lunch buffet in the Cezanne restaurant.
The optional excursion “Castles and Vineyards of Southern Burgundy” departed at 2:00 p.m. and did not return until 6:00 p.m. This was a very enjoyable tour and gave the opportunity to see the inside of a private chateau and speak with the owner, and then visit a private cellar for wine tasting.
Passengers that were not participating in the optional excursion had the afternoon to wander around Chalon-sur-Saone and take care of any last-minute souvenir shopping.
Our last get together with Tony was at 6:45 p.m. when he gave a brief, but lovely speech, thanking passengers for a wonderful cruise and answering any questions regarding disembarkation the next morning.
Dinner was served at 7:00 p.m. in the Cezanne restaurant and it was a wonderful way to wrap up a fun and exciting cruise week with new-found friends.
