Uniworld Boutique River Cruises River Royale Day 7 Itinerary
Daily Itinerary ~ Day 7 – Lyon
For early risers coffee and pastries were available in the Patio lounge between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
An extensive hot-and-cold buffet breakfast was available in the Cezanne restaurant between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Anyone wishing to skip the morning tour could enjoy an extended continental breakfast in the Renoir lounge between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Gymnastics session in the Renoir lounge with Madeleine at 8:00 a.m.
At 9:00 a.m. all passengers joining the guided city tour of Lyon were boarding buses and meeting their tour guide.
The tour lasted almost three hours and included most of the highlights of the city, including Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière.
Passengers had the option of returning to the ship for lunch or venturing out on their own and finding a Bouchon (restaurant in Lyon that serves typical Lyonnaise food) to sample local cuisine.
For some passengers, this is where they left the guide and decided to spend lunchtime and the rest of the afternoon enjoying more of Avignon on their own. Others stayed with the group and walked back to the ship in time for lunch onboard.
For passengers returning to River Royale, lunch was served from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the Cezanne restaurant.
Lyon was a great location to borrow one of the bikes and explore the trails along the river, or take a walk through the main shopping areas and visit a cafe or bistro. Lyon is after all, one of the best places to eat in France and the Lyonnaise food is wonderful.
For those that returned to the ship early afternoon, there was a silk painting demonstration in the Renoir lounge and tea time from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
By 5:30 p.m. River Royale had set sail again and we were on our way to Chalon-sur-Saone and now sailing on the Saone River.
The Captain’s Farewell Cocktail was held in the Renoir lounge followed by a disembarkation briefing and port talk with Tony. Then it was off to the Cezanne restaurant for the Captain’s Farewell Dinner at 7:00 p.m.
Passengers were treated to a wonderful after-dinner performance featuring entertainment by a local artist, Muriel, as she sang and played the piano to a variety of jazz tunes.
