Daily Itinerary ~ Day 6 – Tain l’Hermitage & Tournon
For early risers coffee and pastries were available in the Patio lounge between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
An extensive hot-and-cold buffet breakfast was available in the Cezanne restaurant between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Again, on the daily program for those so inclined there was a gymnastic session in the Renoir lounge with Madeleine at 8:00 a.m.
At 9:00 a.m. passengers enjoyed an onboard lecture from one of the chefs from Valrhona Chocolate. The chef explained the secrets behind what makes this one of the world’s finest chocolates and taught us how to “taste” and compare the various types of chocolate that he had brought with him for us to sample.
We hit the pavement with our guides at 10:00 a.m. for a two-hour walking tour of Tournon – over the bridge that crosses the Rhone river and connects Tournon and Tain l’Hermitage. This was followed by a visit to Ferraton wine cellars in Tain l’Hermitage and wine tasting.

By 12:30 p.m. we were back onboard in time for the lunch buffet in the Cezanne restaurant.
River Royale set sail at 1:00 p.m. for Lyon and we enjoyed an afternoon of great conversation and fun with fellow passengers before the cooking demonstration by Executive Chef, Roger Demmer, as he prepared Crepe Suzette for everyone to enjoy.
Our port talk with Tony about Lyon took place in the Renoir lounge at 6:45 p.m. and then it was time for another masterfully prepared and presented dinner in the Cezanne restaurant.
By 9:00 p.m. River Royale had docked in Lyon and those passengers that wished to go for an evening walk, find a cafe to have a drink with the locals, or had opted to wait until Lyon to dine out for the evening, disembarked and headed into the city. A great time to see the second-largest city in France.
