River Royale Cabins ~
Uniworld’s River Royale features 66 staterooms that convert to either one double or two twin beds in a space of approximately 151 sq. ft. There is one suite with an approximate size of 217 sq. ft. All staterooms are outside cabins and located on all three levels of the ship.
Deck 3 – French balconies are found on all category 1 cabins on the Azure Deck. While the French balconies allow passengers to open the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door in their cabin and step out onto a slight overhang, there isn’t an actual balcony that allows guests privacy or a place to sit – it is standing room only.
Deck 2 – The Burgundy Deck offers passengers picture windows (they do not open) and the cabins are slightly larger than the Azure Deck cabins (due to the space that the French balcony takes up).
Deck 1 – The Champagne Deck offers a total of eight cabins with porthole windows that do not open – after all, they are at water level.
Regardless of which deck and category, all cabins boast the same quality of furnishings and fittings. They are lavishly appointed for a week of comfort, relaxation and tranquility.
Cabin amenities include:
– hotel-style beds – configured into twin or double
– bed duvets
– large built-in closets
– hair dryer
– safe
– direct-dial telephone
– flat-screen TV
– bottled water
– waffle bathrobes
– L’Occitane body products
– bathroom magnifying mirror
– umbrella
– wooden hangers
– under-bed storage drawer
– individual thermostats for a/c and heat
– voltage: 110/220 volts
– bistro table and two chairs
– large shower with glass doors
– quality bed linen and bathroom towels – including washcloths
WJ Notes:
– Cabin service is provided twice per day.
– Bottled water will be replaced when cabin service is performed, or guests can simply take the glass water bottle provided in their cabin and refill it with filtered water that is available in the Patio Lounge – loved this idea.
– Beds are all twins and if you request a double configuration they are pushed together.
– Although the beds are typical hotel-style mattresses, we found them to be rather firm and narrow.
– Duvets on beds are all twin size. So, if you have your bed configured to a double you will still have two twin duvets covering it. If that idea doesn’t work for you, simply request that your cabin attendant add a couple of sheets to keep the duvets from parting ways in the night (some of our fellow North American passengers weren’t familiar with the individual duvet idea that is quite typical throughout Europe).
– If you prefer a cabin where the windows open and you can lean out, make sure to book on the Azure Deck.
– If you don’t mind not having a window that opens, but prefer a slightly larger cabin, book a stateroom on the Burgundy Deck.
– Laundry (washing) and pressing service is available to guests for a fee.
– As of 2010, there will be complimentary laundry service for guests booked in the suite.
