WJ Tested: The Nam Hai Review – Day 3
The Nam Hai 5-Star luxury resort and spa is located in Hoi An, Vietnam
MORNING MEDITATION CLASS
Yesterday, the 7 AM morning meditation class had been a wonderful way to start our day, so we decided to make the most of our time at The Nam Hai and once again joined fitness expert Giri. We were thrilled we did – we came away from the meditation session with a fantastic sense of well-being and fully charged for a walk on the beach before indulging in another incredible buffet breakfast.
BIKING IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
Although we were reluctant to actually leave the resort, we did borrow bikes from the fitness center and headed into the surrounding countryside. The remainder of our morning was spent peddling past rice paddies, schools, small shops, people’s homes and along narrow country roads. The local people were super-friendly and with big smiles on their faces they made a point of waving at us as we cycled along.
POOL TIME
As the weather was warm and sunny, our afternoon was spent enjoying The Nam Hai. We could be found either lounging poolside and swimming in each of the three pools, or relaxing on the beach sunbeds after taking a dip in the East Sea.
Again, we wanted to spend time enjoying our villa, so the final hour of daylight was spent sitting on the patio and taking in the view of the beach as the sun started to set.
THE BEACH RESTAURANT
Tonight we had made reservations for dinner at The Beach (Vietnamese) Restaurant near the beach and alongside the adult pool. It was a beautiful night for having dinner outside, with perfect weather and temperature. Outside the restaurant, near where we were seated, we listened to live Vietnamese Traditional music being played by local musicians – a wonderful addition to the ambiance.
We dined family-style, starting with a Banana Flower Salad with Smoked Duck appetizer. For the main course we shared Braised Short Rib with Vegetables (in a clay pot), a side of Morning Glory with Garlic (water spinach vegetable) and Fried Rice with Vegetables. Every dish was beautifully presented and perfectly delicious – we just wished we were staying longer so we could try more menu items.
At one point the wind picked up a little. That was when our waiter appeared with a selection of shawls for us to borrow while we finished dining – they certainly helped keep the chill off. This was certainly the perfect way to spend our last evening at The Nam Hai.
DEPARTURE DAY
Sadly, all good things must come to an end! Our stay at The Nam Hai had been one of the most memorable resort experiences we have shared. Our final morning was spent enjoying our villa, taking Giri’s morning meditation class, walking the beach and taking our time over breakfast. As there was no rush for us to leave our villa we were given a 2:30 PM check-out time and at 3 PM took the complimentary transfer into the town of Hoi An to start our next adventure.
