We would rather be in Florence and staying at Residenza d’Epoca in Piazza della Signoria! During a visit to Florence we found Residenza d’Epoca to be a charming place to stay in a fabulous, central location.

The 10-bedroom house, from the end of the XIV Century, is owned and operated by Alessandro and Sonia Pini, who purchased the property in 2000. The Pini’s have lovingly restored it in such a way that anyone who stays here will fall in love with the property and never want to leave. Breakfast at the house is not to be missed under any circumstances and is comprised of: wonderful pastries and breads; fresh-squeezed blood-orange juice; fresh fruit; meats and cheeses; eggs and bacon made to order; cappuccino that goes on our list of “one of the best”. Service is impeccable from the friendly and helpful people who run and make a living at this B&B.

Our room, “Botticelli”, overlooked Piazza Della Signoria, and looking down the tiny street at the front of the house we viewed the dome of Florence’s famous Cathedral – Bascilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. All of the rooms are beautifully decorated, and provide peace and quiet in a lovely surrounding, with top-notch in-room amenities.

Within a 5 to 10-minute walk in one direction we were at the Duomo, and in the other direction came upon the Ponte Vecchio. The main train station could easily be reached within a 20-minute walk – which we did when we left for our next destination. Amazing architecture and historical sights are all around the immediate area of Piazza della Signoria and the B&B, as well as endless restaurants, cafes, gelaterias, museums, galleries, etc.
