Foodie Finds: La Cava Universal in Barcelona, Spain
Foodie Finds: La Cava Universal in Barcelona, Spain
The fact that Barcelona is one of WAVEJourney’s favorite cities goes without saying. This is a city with so many interesting and unique sights that each time we visit we always find something new and exciting. So, when we had the chance to spend six hours roaming the Barcelona streets, we knew we would be in search of at least a few new (to us) cafes and bars. As we love to eat, we decided to spend our limited amount of time finding and sampling great tapas – somebody’s got to do it!
La Cava Universal, at the bottom of Las Rambles, was one of our first stops and we recommend adding it to any “to do in Barcelona” list. This cafe/bar that was established in 1858, has seating inside and outdoors. If you choose to sit outside you can also enjoy another of our favorite Barcelona pastimes – people watching. Locals and tourists alike stroll up and down Las Rambles, to and from the old port and the Statue of Columbus is very close by.
All the menu items we viewed being served to other customers looked so good, and were very reasonably priced, especially considering the fabulous location.
WJ enjoyed potato tortilla on a baquette (of course it was accompanied by a couple of beers), while we watched the world go by. Next time we hope to have more time to linger while sampling other menu items at La Cava Universal
WJ enjoyed:
2 x Copa Cervesa (large beer) = E 6.60
2 x Llesqueta Truita de Patates (potato tortilla on baquette) = E3.80
1 x Llesquetta Variada (anchovies on baquette) = E1.90
Total: E12,30
