Travel Deals: Halloween Brings Bevies of Bats to Zambian Skies
~ African Travel, Inc. Can Custom Design Your Safari To See This Striking Sight ~

Halloween is just around the corner, and this favorite holiday wouldn’t be complete without the thrill of bats! Every year from October to December, eight million straw-colored fruit bats arrive from the Congo to feed on the wild musuku fruits in Zambia’s Kasanka National Park.

This is Zambia’s secret bat spectacle and reputedly the world’s largest mammal migration. Spiraling and tumbling through the skies, the bats arrive in overwhelming numbers, screeching and colliding as they return each year to settle in the Zambian fruit trees. These bats roost in this specific area and literally cover the trunks of the trees like a thick blanket. Then at sunset they all take off and fly out to forage, and the sky again becomes thick with bats.

African Travel, Inc. specializes in designing customized trips to see extraordinary sights such as the fruit bat migration and other wonders unique to Africa. Since they opened their doors in 1976, African Travel, Inc. has sent over 100,000 adventurers and safari guests on their dream Africa experience.

According to Jim Holden, President of African Travel, Inc., “The annual migration of millions of bats from the Democratic Republic of the Congo across the border to Kasanka National Park is an astonishing sight. Africa is full of such natural wonders, and most of them are not well known, as with this natural occurrence. Another phenomenon unique to Zambia is the annual wildebeest migration in the Liuwa Plains National Park.”

Whether it’s bats in Zambia, hot air ballooning in Namibia, wine tasting in Cape Town, snorkeling in Mozambique, or a family safari to Kenya where you can feed the giraffes, African Travel, Inc.’s safari specialists will help you create your dream vacation.
