Wish You Were Here – Postcard From The Killing Fields in Cambodia

Well, this isn’t really an uplifting postcard due to the nature of the excursion we went on this morning. But, we’re definitely glad we went to the Choeung Ek killing fields (20 KM outside of Phnom Penh) and the S-21 prison in the city center (Khmer Roughe’s largest detention and torture facility).

Prior to our visit we did not know very much about the facts surrounding communal graves and prison facilities. Now we learn that more than 17,000 men, women and children went through these facilities.

Only seven men survived their time at S-21, two of them are still living. A rather somber morning for all on our Uniworld Mekong River cruise – but we’re glad we went!

Happy Travels!
