Optional Excursions ~
Three optional excursions were available and all proved to be excellent value and worth every penny.
Plymouth Harbour Cruise
The one hour Plymouth Harbour cruise aboard Plymouth Princess included a cup of tea or coffee. £10
Stratford – The Saxon Sanctuary & Country Pub Dinner
We enjoyed a 15-minute drive out into the countryside and visit to The Saxon Sancturary – Warwickshire’s Oldest Church.
Then it was onto The Bull’s Head Pub for a 3-course meal in their private dining area.
Menu:
Starter: Choice of tomato basil soup or pate
Main: Choice of smoked haddock risotto or Bull Pie with vegetables or vegetable risotto
Dessert: Apple and rhubarb crumble with custard or ice cream
A choice of 1/2 pint of ale, wine, cider or a soft drink was included – £26. We enjoyed the excursion and found it to be great value.
Liverpool Beatles Tour with a Scouser
Liverpudlian Phil Capell took us on a 2.5 hour tour of the Beatles’ Liverpool, hitting all the high spots and entertaining us all the way. Tour sights included: Mathew Street, Penny Lane, Liverpool Cathedral, Sefton Park, Liver Building and much more. £12
Lake District – Steam Train Ride & Windermere Cruise
We boarded the steam train at Haverthwaite for a 20-minute ride to Lakeside. After getting off the train we walked right to the MV Swan for a 40-minute cruise on Windermere to Bowness. £13
