DAY 4 – FINAL RIDE ON THE RANGE AND FOND FAREWELL
Our last morning at The Hills Health Ranch had come too soon. We had originally planned to leave around 10 AM, but Jada was having such a fantastic time with all the riding and ranch activities that we decided to let her take one last ride before we departed. So off she went for her final two-hour trail ride, this time mounted on Monty – the horse I had ridden the previous day. At first she was a little apprehensive as Monty is much bigger than Sunshine and Raven, but after she let him know who was boss (when he tried to go the way he wanted), he was like putty in her hands.
Once again Jada returned from her trail ride with a grin from ear to ear and excited about what she had seen. But this time we had to say farewell to Wrangler Amber and make a final stop (with the last few carrots) at the miniature donkeys. Even Clyde, the jack of the drove, seemed sad to see Jada leave!
By 1 PM all three of us were once again back in the car and settled in for the return drive to the Fraser Valley. This multigenerational family adventure had been a huge success and as we drove along we reminisced about the fantastic time we’d spent together and all the wonderful experiences The Hills Health Ranch had enabled us to have.
Jada succinctly summed up our trip when she announced, “Next year we’re coming back to The Hills for two weeks!” And then she followed that up with, “I want to get married here when I’m grown-up!” OK. We’re not going to argue about any of that. It looks like we’ve started what is likely to become an annual multigenerational family tradition at The Hills Health Ranch!
