WJ Tested: O’Brien’s Cashel Lodge – Guest Lodge, Hostel and Camping
WJ found this gem during a driving tour of Ireland. By chance we drove through Cashel and arrived at O’Briens Cashel Lodge after taking a wrong turn. It turned out to be the best wrong turn of the trip!
Owners Brid and Tom O’Brien are friendly and gracious hosts who have spent the last 30 years lovingly restoring the 200-year-old main building that encompasses both the lodge and hostel.
We found a clean, comfortable, modern facility with free WIFI, a communal lounge and kitchen. Camping is also available for those with a tent or motorhome.
There is plenty to do in this area, including walking to Hore Abbey that dates back to 1266 and exploring The Rock of Cashel from the 12th century.
Hiking galore and touring the town of Cashel with its many wonderful restaurants and charming local pubs will keep visitors busy and happy.
PS. Guests at O’Briens Cashel Lodge have unobstructed views of both The Rock of Cashel and Hore Abbey.
