WJ Tested: Castlewood House Luxury B&B in Dingle, Ireland
Castlewood House is a 4-star Bed and Breakfast in Dingle, Ireland and definitely one of the best WJ has experienced. Owners Brian and Helen Heaton had Castlewood House built to their specifications, and have clearly achieved their goal in providing guests with a charming boutique B&B.
The ground-level guest room we stayed in was of generous size, with a comfortable king bed and tastefully furnished. A spacious bathroom included a jacuzzi tub and separate shower with robes and slippers available for guest use.
Breakfast is a lavish affair, with Brian serving as breakfast Chef and preparing hot dishes to order. Guests may indulge in items such as the Traditional Irish Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, pancakes, Dingle Bay Kippers and Smoked Salmon Omelette.
Cold breakfast items are laid out in the dining room for guests to help themselves and include a vast arrangement of juices, soda breads, deli meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, scones, jams, jellies, marmalades, cereals and a fantastic bread & butter pudding. Helen was the ultimate hostess, always engaging us in conversation and ensuring that our every need was met.
Although WIFI was not available in the guest room, it was accessible in the lounge and included in the rate. We enjoyed being able to sit by the fire in the lounge, a cup of tea in hand and surf the web while looking out at Dingle Bay.
Pubs and restaurants in Dingle town center are just a few minutes walk away and the location of the guesthouse was perfect for exploring the town and enjoying the surrounding views.
Castlewood balances the charm of a B&B with the level of service found in a luxury boutique hotel. The perfect location and a must stay for anyone visiting the Dingle Peninsula.
