Travel Tip: Foodie Find – Hambar Restaurant and Bar in Montreal
Everyone that knows us knows that we enjoy finding new, unique and fabulous foodie places. During our first visit to Montreal in the province of Quebec, Canada, we stumbled upon the newly-opened Hambar Restaurant and Bar. What a fantastic find this turned out to be!
Love ham? Then this is the place to visit for an out-of-this-world ham fix. Located in the heart of Old Montreal, at the corner of McGill and Rue Saint Paul Ouest, Hambar Restaurant and Bar’s restaurant theme is centered around cured ham. What’s not to love about that?
Even before we stepped inside the front door, the cured ham theme was evident. An enclosed glass case at the entrance contains some of the most prized cured ham from Spain, France and Italy, hanging on display.
Hambar specialty hams include prosciutto di Parma Ruliano from Italy, Jamón Serrano from Spain, Bayonne ham from southwest France, and the crème de la crème of all ham… Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (commonly called Pata Negra) from Spain.
We spent almost two hours at the bar while we enjoyed a couple of pints of Stella Artois beer, and dined on the charcuterie small platter. A perfect way to enjoy a warm late-spring evening in Montreal.
Not only were the staff at Hambar super friendly, they were pretty nice eye candy, too.
The charcuterie small platter was large enough for the two of us to share for dinner. With a selection of pâtes, hams, pickled vegetables, along with Manchego cheese and crostini, we were in charcuterie heaven!
All the hams and other meats for the charcuterie platters are sliced fresh to order.
The delicious pickled vegetables that are served at the restaurant are prepared in their own kitchen.
The interior was chic and stylish, yet maintained a comfortable and casual atmosphere.
Hambar Restaurant and Bar is on our list of places to return to when we next visit Montreal.
Bon Appetit!
