Helsinki, Finland Travel Tips & Recommendations
One of the most amazing dining experiences we have ever had – anywhere – was in Helsinki, Finland at A21 Dining. We spent an evening journeying through the Finnish archipelago via food and cocktails. This unique experience of pairing courses with savory cocktails while being transported to another place and time through storytelling was quite amazing.
A21 changes their menu with the season, so be sure to pay a visit when in Helsinki, and take a culinary adventure of a lifetime.
Reservations are required.
Finland Archipelago Travel Tips & Recommendations
Visiting the rustic timbered inn, Martta, on the island of Nauvo/Nagu in the archipelago of Finland was certainly a treat for us. The owners are Sture and Sari Nordlin, and their warmth and hospitality made our stay at their inn one of our favorite travel experiences. The inn has a vintage and homey feel, and although the guestrooms are on the smaller side and the bathrooms down the hall, our stay here was one of our favorite in all our travels. Sari is in charge of making sure that guests don’t go hungry and we enjoyed some delicious meals during our stay. The sauna here is traditional and not to be missed.
West Sweden Travel Tips & Recommendations
Visit West Swedenand enjoy some of our favorite places:1. Helsingborg – a compact and interesting town on the southwest coast of Sweden.
2. Sofiero Palace and Gardens.- visit this beautiful park setting and enjoy a fantastic lunch in the restaurant.
4. Fredriksdal Open-Air Museum and Botanical Garden – this is a place that all ages will enjoy. In summer the flowers around the gardens are in full bloom and the colors are amazing. Be sure to stop by Hedström´s candy shop and buy a bag of local sweets.
5. Dunker Culture Museum – this is a great place to spend a couple of hours, view some unique art, and get to know the history of Helsingborg.
6. Flickorna Lundgren – after a busy day of sightseeing, spend the afternoon doing one of the things the Swedish love best – eat cakes! There are so many different kinds to choose from it could turn into quite the challenge.
Norway Travel Tips & Recommendations
WAVEJourney shares our most recent travel tips and recommendations:
WAVEJourney rode the Flam to Myrdal Railway in Norway. It is one of the most scenic and interesting rail journeys we have experienced and we highly recommend making the time to do it when visiting Norway’s fjord region. We spent 3 hours on a rainy mid-June afternoon travelling by train along the 20 km route from Flam to Myrdal, and then back again. This is one of the steepest railway journeys ever. There is a 55% gradient on the track that tunnels in and out of the mountains.
It is also possible to do this as a daytrip from Bergen by taking a train from Bergen to Myrdal and then changing to the Flam Railway.
Norway Travel Tips & Recommendations
WAVEJourney shares our most recent travel tips and recommendations:
The Walaker Hotell in Solvorn, Norway is situated in an incredibly scenic and peaceful location. This historic hotel has been run by the same family since 1690 and has 23 guest rooms in 3 buildings. We stayed in a very quaint and comfortable room – with the names Christen and Birgitte on the door – in the oldest building, with views from the bathtub looking out to Lusterfjord. The dining room serves breakfast and dinner, and both meals shouldn’t be missed.- Walaker Hotell Website.
