Our morning excursion from Uniworld River Orchid started with a sampan (small boat) ride on the Mekong River to the town of Cai Be, Vietnam. The sampan allowed us to travel along the small canals in the town and witness the local activity – fishing and agriculture.
After a short stop to visit a traditional Vietnamese home and garden we continued on to a very busy rice factory where they demonstrated how pop rice candy, rice paper (for spring rolls, etc.) and various other local rice products are made by hand – sampling the products was lots of fun. We even took a sip of the local snake whiskey – not bad.
