Following another comfortable night at the Best Western Coral Hills in St. George, Utah we were ready to continue on with our road trip as we started the journey back to Central Oregon. After all the driving we’ve done over the past three weeks, it’s time to head to our favorite getaway place (Peppermill Reno) and relax for a few days.

Our 540 mile route today took us about 8 hours to drive – remote, quiet roads with an average speed limit of 75 MPH. First we drove south from St. George, Utah along I-15 (direction Las Vegas), into the top northwest corner of New Mexico, then dropped down into Nevada and just past Mesquite joined NV-168 (direction Moapa/Ely).

Then we carried on until we joined the less travelled Extraterrestrial Highway (we didn’t see any UFOs) NV-375.

Tonopah was the biggest town we saw along the way and the best option for a quick lunch stop was Subway to grab a sandwich.
