Glass Bottom Boat Tour in The Bahamas

How many cruise ships do you know that carry their own glass bottom boat along with them during a voyage? Probably not many, but we know of one. The Grande Mariner that is owned and operated by Blount Small Ship Adventures has its own glass bottom boat.
While on a 12-night Bahamian Out Island cruise with Blount, one of the included excursions WJ enjoyed immensely was an outing on the glass bottom boat with the expert onboard naturalist/guide, Luz Hunter from Belize. Grande Mariner was docked at Compass Cay in the Exumas (365 cays and islands make up the archipelago that is located 35 miles southeast of Nassau), and it was here that passengers were able to experience what marine life was under the water without getting wet.
The crystal-clear turquoise water provided excellent viewing of what was under the boat (turtles, a large variety of fish, conch, corals, sea plant life), and the detailed commentary by Luz was fascinating. We just wish could do it all over again – it was so cool!
