WJ Tested: Un-Cruise Adventures Legacy of Discovery Cruise Dining on S.S. Legacy
WAVEJourney joined Un-Cruise Adventures for their 7-night Legacy of Discovery cruise on S.S. Legacy along the Columbia and Snake Rivers – September 26-October 3, 2015
INCLUDED FOOD AND BEVERAGE:
During our 7-night Un-Cruise Adventures Legacy of Discovery cruise, all meals and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were included in the cruise fare.
Full-service, open-seating in the dining room on Deck 1 affords the opportunity to meet fellow passengers during breakfast, lunch and dinner. During our cruise the meal times were as follows: Breakfast – 7:30 AM; Lunch – a time set between noon and 1 PM; Dinner – 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM.
The on-board pastry chef made scrumptious freshly-baked pastries, breads, cookies and dessert each day.
Passengers that had special dietary needs were accommodated, and even picky eaters (those that did not like the set menu items offered for dinner) could request in advance an alternate item (i.e. a cheeseburger and fries was brought to one of our table companions which looked delicious).
- Early riser breakfast in the lounge was available starting at 6:30 AM – yogurt parfait, freshly-baked pastry, fresh fruit plate, oatmeal, toast, cereal, fruit juice.
- Breakfast in the dining room – 2 daily cooked specials (omelet, scramble, frittata, pancakes, French toast), eggs cooked to order with potatoes, bacon, sausage, toast.
- Lunch – was either on-board S.S. Legacy or included during excursions (a boxed lunch). On-board lunch offered 2 menu options (soup or sandwich or salad) and beer and wine were offered by the crew.
- Cookies – each afternoon a plate of freshly-made cookies were available in the lounge.
- Cocktail Hour – Passengers gathered daily for late-afternoon (5:30 PM) cocktails in the lounge along with hors d’oeuvres.
- Dinner in the dining room – 3 course meals (soup or salad, main course and dessert) offering 3 main course options (meat, fish or vegetarian), with wine and beer.
- Wine – Red, white, rose and sparkling wines are included at all times. A red and white are chosen to accompany lunch and dinner, but many other wonderful wines from local regions.
- Microbrew Beers -The Pesky Barnacle Saloon has self-serve draft beer taps with two selections that guests can pour from whenever they wish. A good selection of four microbrew beers were also available on draft in the Lounge; poured by the bartender.
- Spirits – The lounge bar has an expert bartender that loves to experiment with cocktails, and from morning until night premium spirits were turned into tasty concoctions.
- Whiskey Bar in Pesky Barnacle Saloon – Ten types of whiskey, scotch and bourbon were readily available for self-serve around the clock.
