During a Holland America Line cruise we had a day in Lisbon, Portugal. Sail away from Lisbon along the River Tagus took ms Rotterdam past the Belem Tower – known in Portuguese as Torre de Belem. This tower was built in the 16th century with the purpose of controlling the entrance to the city.
