Spanning the Liffey – a river that runs through the center of Dublin, Ireland – is the Ha’penny Bridge. This bridge dates back to 1816 and after the first 10 days of free crossing over the bridge, a toll was put on that charged in ha’pennies. Hence the name given by Dubliners – Ha’penny Bridge.
