The day WJ took a burro ride through the desert of the Baja Peninsula from Bahia Agua Verde with the Romero family, was one of the highlights of our Un-Cruise Adventures‘ Baja’s Bounty Sea of Cortes cruise.
A local ranchero family brought about 25 of their mules, horses and burros through the desert to meet our group at the beach. From there we rode inland to get a completely different perspective of the area we were cruising – we had only seen the spectacular coastline of Baja Sur for the past few days (other than during a couple of beach stops).
After the trail rose above the inlet where we could view our ship, Safari Endeavour, we rode inland. From here, views in this rusty and dusty landscape changed dramatically – from dry creeks (arroyos) to lush palm trees.
