Guaranteed Departures in June and August from Opatija in the North to Dubrovnik in the South on State-of-the-Art Deluxe Cruiser
Katarina Line, Croatia’s leading DMC and premier small ship cruise company, announced the launch of a brand new deluxe one-way “Adriatic Explorer” cruise program for 2017 that will tour the dazzling Croatia coastline “from top to toe” – cruising between the picturesque town of Opatija at the “top” of Croatia to the country’s sophisticated “toe” of Dubrovnik. The 7-night cruises will visit the coastal cities of Opatija, Rab, Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Metković, Korčula and Dubrovnik. Guaranteed departure dates are June 10th from Dubrovnik to Opatija; June 24th from Opatija to Dubrovnik; and August 19th from Opatija to Dubrovnik.
All cruises will be on the fully air-conditioned 38-passenger Futura deluxe cruiser, a spacious, modern vessel with the latest, state-of-the-art equipment and on-board amenities, including Wi-Fi. Pre- and post-cruise land packages from Venice, Italy are also available that will allow guests to seamlessly extend their vacation or connect after a visit to Italy to explore Croatia’s charming interior towns and attractions.
Food and Fun
In addition to the delight of anchoring at hidden grottos and swimming in the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic, the 7-night cruises include unique gastronomic offerings, such as the opportunity to sample “Rab” cake – created by nuns to feed the visiting Pope – wine tasting at the famous Bibich winery in Skradin, and Maraschino liquor tasting in Zadar. Guests will also visit the fishermen’s village of Volosko, where they’ll find some of the best seafood in Croatia, as well as distinctive chocolate cocktails, cakes, and ice cream.
Activities include a walk through Krka Waterfalls National Park in Zadar and a swim in the River Krka just below the falls; a stroll through the tiny streets of the quaint old town of Korčula – the birthplace of Marco Polo. The town boasts the unique shape of a fish bone, with streets fanning out from the center to reduce the effects of wind and sun. After dark, it comes alive with many konobas – restaurants offering authentic Croatian dishes – as well as bars and night-clubs.
Among the sites visited is the university town of Zadar, famed for its rich history that includes the medieval basilica of St. Donat and more than 30 other churches. It is also known for its Museum of Ancient Glass, as well as its famous “sea organ.” This unique architectural attraction features musical pipes installed beneath the sea surface, allowing the waves to create amazing “sea music.” The same site includes the “Greeting to the Sun” installation, multilayer solar cells that absorb the sunlight to light up the waterfront at night.
“Every corner of Croatian cities and little coves along its glittering coastline is steep in history and culture, where for thousands of years the ancient Illyrians, Greeks, and Romans once sailed,” said Daniel Hauptfeld, marketing director for Katarina Line. “Our new, one-way ‘Adriatic Explorer’ program traces these same historical routes, while offering countless opportunities to enjoy the amazing scenery, natural beauty, cultural, and historical landmarks that make Croatia one of Europe’s most captivating destinations.”
Prices for the 7-night cruise include deluxe cabin with en suite bathrooms, daily buffet breakfast and 10 meals – either lunch or dinner as specified in the itinerary – and guided tours with English speaking guides. Katarina Line pays travel agent commissions on all bookings.
