HSSC describes the NL2148 Carry-On as:
Stylish and sophisticated, our Carry-On Expandable
Wheeled Upright puts travel luggage on its edge. With an
expandable main compartment for added packing
capacity, large front compartment with a padded
computer sleeve to keep a 17" notebook computer safe
and secure, and multiple accessory pockets to organize
High Sierra packed so many useful features into the lightweight NL2148 bag (weighing in at
around 10 pounds) that I was surprised how much I could carry. An expandable zipper is a
feature I insist on these days and the one on the NL2148 opens to allow an additional 2.5" of
room. This was especially useful for bus, train and walking travel days when the weather was
hot and jackets were not required. I could expand the bag and let it haul around my excess
items and all the extra paper work I picked up each day.
A long zipper pocket on the front is ideal for airline and train tickets (only if you don't let the
bag out of your sight), or anything small that you need to keep handy. Another small zipper
pocket has an identification tag holder. A side pocket stashes a mesh water bottle holder for
easy hands free maneuverability.
In my opinion, the shoe pockets in the main internal compartment are stupid. The opening
was too close to the end of the bag, making it impossible for me to insert even a small dress
shoe. The only thing I was able to use them for was to stuff them with socks and gadgets.
Hopefully, this was just a flaw in my particular bag.
There is a large internal padded compartment for a laptop - it holds most with a screen up to
17 inches. I found it possible to carry additional paperwork in this compartment with my 15.4"
laptop. This area can be separated from the main compartment by a zippered divider panel.
For my needs I preferred to use the divider panel rather than to roll it up, but then I like
having a bunch of different compartments to organize my belongings.
Use this luggage for a week-end or week-long getaway, or if you're like me and can pack
tight and light, this bag can provide all the room and features for a couple of months on the
road.
The internal compartment for clothes was large enough for me to pack:
~ 2 pairs of shoes
~ 2 pairs of pants
~ 1 pair capri
~ 1 shirt
~ 2 tee-shirts
~ 3 long-sleeve tee-shirts
~ 1 rain jacket
~ 3 pairs of socks
~ 3 pairs of underwear
~ 1 pair of shorts
~ 1 bathing suit
~ 1 polar-fleece jacket
~ a laptop - WJ's is a 15.4"
~ and a bunch of gadgets and cords for cameras, computers, etc...
Bottom Line:
If you need a carry-on that is functional, expandable and will go the distance, pop the $360
for this bag. It is built so that it should last many years to come. The inline skate wheels and
the telescoping handle make it very easy and reliable for getting around airports, hotels and
train stations. I had confidence that this bag was coming back with the wheels it left with and
could withstand the abuse of being pulled over miles of cobblestone roads, gravel paths and
up and down stairs. While it is not the lightest carry-on High Sierra makes, this is a strong
bag that gives confidence that it will last the test of time, while providing all the space and
organization needed on a business trip or leisure getaway.

WJ Note:
Most USA domestic flights allow up to a combined 45" for carry-on luggage, many
International flights will allow up to 50". Check with the airline you will be flying on for their
carry-on restrictions. They are all different and you don't want to get caught with the wrong
size, need to repack, or take your valuables out because it doesn't meet that particular
airlines restrictions and therefore needs to be checked. If expanded this bag probably won't
fit in airplane overhead bins and for the most part won't fit in any overhead bins on European
trains.

everything from shoes, airline tickets, water bottles, and even your i.d. And, with it's Feather-Lite
Flexoshell compression molded back panel and internal foam structure, this lightweight wheeled
upright is ready to move the second you are.
Viv's Review:
This 22-inch carry-on wheeled computer upright from High Sierra's Next Level collection is one
of the nicest looking carry-on luggage pieces I've come across. Stylish, lightweight and tough
are three of the main criteria elements I require in a carry-on and this one does a good job
fitting the bill. After 9 weeks of constant use and abuse, this carry-on came back in perfect
shape, looking practically new. The one time I was required to check the bag on a flight from
London's Heathrow airport (Heathrow only allows 1 item to be taken on the plane and I had
my camera gear in a daypack) to Lisbon, Portugal, it came off the conveyor belt without a
scratch or nick. Now that's a first for any checked bag I've had.
