Jill's Review:
The Chameleon Arc Traveler was my primary walking shoe for a nine-week European
adventure. A daily dose of a fair amount of walking put these shoes to the test. Visually, I
found these shoes to be quite stylish with an Olde World flair thanks to the lacework accent on
the leather and suede upper.
The leather wore well, albeit I wish Merrell would use one solid piece of material to alleviate a
seam on the upper. This wasn't noticeable to anyone but myself, but it did take away from the
styling for me. One point deducted on my scorecard.
Most impressed with the extremely rugged sole and the 4mm lug depth. After numerous
kilometers of walking, I detect no wear on the sole. The shoe provided great traction on the
many cobblestone lanes I traversed.
The fit for me needed one minor adjustment, as the heel was too wide for my foot. Heel pads
from the local drugstore remedied this issue to my satisfaction.
With this being my primary shoe, I definitely appreciated Merrell's antimicrobial shield on the
lining. Nary a whiff of any unpleasant odors, regardless of the day's miles logged.
Bottom Line:
This shoe provided the sure-footed support I needed for this journey and brought comments
from other travellers about the attractive styling. With the heel adjustment noted, I would
recommend this shoe for your next trip or a walk in the woods.
